Consider this: The part of you that really WANTS to create something, is NOT the creator in you. Wanting or needing is not the creative energy that supports effortless manifestation. On the other hand, the part of you that watches life change with a twinkle in your eye, that dreams for the fun of dreaming, regardless of circumstances, IS the CREATOR in you. This part is free, fearless, and knowing. BE this part, and you will SEE change arise spontaneously.
It is impossible for anyone that must deal daily with a crippling disease to not be constantly reminded of the effects. Consquently there would never be a time that their energies as defined in the secret would be 100% positive. Then according to the secret their chances of uncommon success at the uncommon hour would be slim to none. I think Lance missed that part.
In choosing what you are to desire, act within reason, but go after the best. If the full power of desire is applied upon all the elements of your mind and character, what is latent within you will be aroused, developed and expressed; you will become much more than you are and thereby will not only desire the best, but be able to be of service to the best. And this latter fact is important. When we desire the great and the wonderful we must ask what we have to give the great and the wonderful in return. It is not only necessary to get the best -- to realize our ideal, but it is also necessary to be so good and so great that we can give to the best as much as we are receiving from the best.
But look, I needed a kitchen floor, and if abandoning sick friends and loved ones was what was required—well, who really enjoys those bedside visits, anyway? We recently renovated our house, and everything went great except our kitchen floor. Remember being told in school that the Holy Roman Empire was neither holy, Roman, nor an empire? My kitchen floor was supposed to be acid-stained concrete. And while it was a floor, it turned out to be neither acid-stained nor concrete. Instead it was made of some sort of epoxy, with a surface that looked as if my dog had fallen into a mud pit and then come inside and rolled all over it. I spent weeks attempting to find an easy, inexpensive way to resurface it. One concrete guy said if he came it to fix it, I'd have to remove all my appliances and baseboards, let him grind down the existing floor and pour a new surface, and pay him $4,000 to do it. Thankfully, he decided the job was too small and troublesome to be worth it. Covering the floor with cork tiles would also require appliance removal and an outlay of about $3,500. And so it went with every alternative.
If you’re practicing these techniques with something simple, it’s time to take action and expect your results. If you’re using the system to find great parking, get in your car and drive to that parking spot with the full intention and expectation of finding it clear for you. Announce it out loud. “That parking spot is clear for me. I am parking in the spot that is open for me.” Again, we are fully aware that this seems really silly, but it’s a critical step.
When Mark Victor Hansen and I published our first Chicken Soup for the Soul book, we were so overwhelmed with possibilities for making the book a bestseller, we weren’t sure which ideas to pursue first. A wonderful teacher, Ron Scolastico, shared a powerful piece of wisdom with us: “If you would go every day to a very large tree and take five swings at it with a very sharp axe, no matter how large the tree, it would have to come down!”
The first secret to manifesting any desire is to have absolute clarity on what it exactly is that you want to manifest. The more specific your intention is, the easier it is for the Universe to know what it is you really want and answer your request. Specific desires create specific results, while vague or unclear goals create wishy-washy results. A powerful intention is also one that is a true desire, which stems from deep inside the heart. This desire is one which is totally free from any "shoulds", "need to's and "have to's". It is important that your intention feels empowering and freeing anytime you focus on it, and that the outcome you are projecting is something you can have fun visualizing happening for you. Yet, perhaps the essential key to setting a strong intention is making a declaration to the Universe out loud about what you want to manifest. Speak it as if the entire Universe can hear you, and then know it has been fully received.
Whatever you want already exists in your imagination, doesn’t it? Therefore it is just as real as any other idea you have ever had that came to fruition. Play with the belief that what you want is already waiting for you. You’ve placed the order, now you’re on your way to pick it up. What have you got to lose? After all, you don’t “need” what you desire, it’s just for fun.
